Tercüman was the first Turkish newspaper published in Crimea by İsmail Bey Gaspıralı (İsmail Mirza Gasprinskiy, 20 March 1851- 24 September 1914) once a week. The first copy of which was printed in Bahçesaray on April 22, 1883. Tercüman, which started to be published twice a week in October 1903, became daily after 1912. Its language was essentially plain Ottoman Turkish, occasionally supplemented with words and phrases from Crimean Tatar or other Turkish dialects. Its editorship bequeathed to Hasan Sabri Ayvazov and it continued to be published until five years after Gaspıralı's death. (Quoted from: http://www.ismailgaspirali.org/hayati/)
