The photograph was taken by Cemal Alagöz, Professor of Geography at the Faculty of Language, History and Geography at Ankara University.
The front of the photograph bears the inscription: “In memory of my dear friend, the late Professor Necati Lugal, the master translator of the Shahnameh; Ferdowsi's statue in the garden of Tehran University, Tehran, 28 August 1973, Cemal Alagöz”.
